Romance & Luxury...in the Bedroom
If there was any room in your house thay you would want to feel luxurious and romantic it would probably be the bedroom. A place of rest and respite, of comfort and warmth, the bedroom is where we go to sleep in our cozy bed, dress for the day and hopefully experience some romantic intimacy (wink wink, nudge nudge). With this spread of soft florals, rich colors and personal touches I hope to inspire you to create your own romantic escape.
The main focus in any bedroom would be the bed so I started there. This gorgeous floral print adds femininity while the softer tones of plum and grey keep it from being too overwhelming. I also wanted the texture to be soft and luxurious feeling so I found a duvet cover that was 100% cotton, which means it's easy to wash.

A bouquet of dried roses can bring in a feel of timelessness while a brocade table cloth, that's really a repurposed scarf, can add a sense of elegance. Some fringe curtain tie-backs feel luxurious and the silvery grey color ties in with the greys on the duvet cover helping to create a united feel to the room.

Antiques create a sense of nostalgia and longevity so I like to place taper candles like this burgundy one in an old brass candle holder that I found at a thrift shop. Brass brings in warm tones and the antique style adds character. Besides, nothing says romance like candles.

In terms of personal touches, I wanted to include this handmade quilt that my grandmother made for us as a wedding gift. It has our wedding colors in it and blank white spaces that our guests signed so it doubled as our guestbook as well. Sentimental objects like this help to create a sense of intimacy and family.
Adding a little bit of greenery, whether fake or real, can bring a sense of growth, movement and freshness to the air. Plus, they just look really pretty.

One of my favorite ways to decorate a room is through art prints and photographs. Go for whatever feels sensual and romantic to you. For me, a sensual nude print in sepia tones and a loving embrace in black and white hit the mark. They are both gently loving and vulnerable without feeling invasive. Plus, I love how the positioning of the arms in the photograph kind of create a heart shape.

For a final touch of luxury, get yourself some super soft and comfy pajamas. These red and white shirt and shorts set are covered in cute little cupids and made from a buttery soft cotton blend. So cozy!

When it comes to creating your dream bedroom, don't be afraid to use what you have and know that you don't have to spend a fortune for the rest. Drape some fancy scarves or pieces of fabric around the room. Beautiful candles and candle holders can be found at dollar stores and thrift shopes at really affordable prices. Personal touches, like an heirloom quilt or the art you put on the walls, will make the space uniquely yours.
These are just some suggestions to inspire you to create your own romantic haven. If you are struggling for what to do, just ask yourself what you would want and go from there. Remember to have fun and be a little playful.
