 A Tasty Treat

Just a quick recipe today. I wanted to share one of my favorite smoothie recipes that takes advantage of the abundance of strawberries at the grocery store this time of year. This is a super tasty, nutrient rich beverage that makes a great breakfast, afternoon snack or post workout shake. Loads of vitamin C from the strawberries, plus the protein and greens powder along with probiotic yogurt will ensure you get the vitamins and minerals you need for the day.

Here is what you will need:

handful of strawberries (frozen or fresh) remove leaves

1 banana (frozen or fresh)

1/4 cup greek yogurt

1-2 cups almond milk (or any preferred milk)

1 scoop Vega protein & greens powder

1 tbsp shatavari (optional)

Throw everything into a blender and blend until smooth. It might help to do a few pulses on the blender before blending fully just to get things moving. The amount of milk you use will depend on how thick you want your smoothie.
Shatavari is an Ayurvedic tonic which nourishes and cleanses the blood and the female reproductive organs. It is high in folic acid and helps to balance hormones and natural estrogen levels. It's totally optional so dont feel like you have to include it. It is available at most health food stores.
You can also choose any milk option that you prefer I just like almond milk the best. Same with the greek yogurt, if you are wanting to make this completely vegan coconut yogurt would be a good option.
That's one of the things I love about smoothies is that they are highly adaptable to individual needs. Once everything is well blended, pour it into your favorite glass and enjoy! Happy Valentine's Day!
